Our main U. S. office is located just outside of Indianapolis, Indiana in the cobblestone village of Zionsville. We have satellite offices scattered across the country in Virginia, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Minnesota, California, New York, Florida, Utah, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Georgia and Washington, DC.

We also have associate offices outside the U. S. in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, Brazil, and Germany. Furthermore, we routinely partner with other ESI networked consultants in Turkey, Korea, South Africa, Thailand, Japan, France, and several mideastern countries.

Our Consultants

Bill Jeffries, President & CEO

  • Degrees in engineering, and graduate degrees in language, literature, and values. Bill has written scholarly articles and books on topics ranging from Business High Performance, to personality type, to Russian literature, poetry, human ethnology, and professional ethics.
  • Bill presently lives in Zionsville, IN, and the mountains of Deer Valley, Utah. His passion is skiing and exploring the depths of the unknown.
  • He has published five books on Psychological Type, Leadership, Team Building and Business High Performance.
  • Bill is a trusted Personal Executive coach for leaders of several multi-national businesses, athletes, and political leaders.
  • He is on the business school faculties of numerous graduate schools and departments of Executive Education, including Carnegie Mellon University, Georgia Tech, The University of California, San Diego, and the Naval War College.

Cheryl Crawford, EVP and Senior Associate

  • Since 2001, Cheryl has been ESI's senior business development consultant, specializing in strategic planning, new business development and innovation technologies.
  • She has been called by Chemical Weekly, the Phil Jackson of the Chemical Industry for her ability to create strong, winning management teams from diverse individuals from different cultures.
  • With degrees in chemical engineering and business, she has implemented stage and gate new product development processes and led businesses to outpace the industry standard in several countries.
  • She has also done post graduate work in Strategic Marketing at Columbia University, Negotiating Global Pricing at the University of Chicago, and studied Genetics and Advanced Mathematics at Purdue University.
Leah Dempsey, Senior Associate
  • Degrees in adult education, and curriculum design and graduate degrees in management science and business.
  • Leah specializes in team building, diversity, sexual harassment, performance assessment, managerial coaching, and the development of high performance workplaces.
  • She is a trusted personal coach for both business leaders and professional athletes and teams.
  • Leah lives in Smithfield, VA and loves the beach and any place warm. Physical fitness, concern for all things living, and children are her passion.
Jeff Trenton, Senior Associate
  • Degree in economics and graduate degrees from Harvard and the University of Paris in international economics and political policy.
  • Jeff's expertise in negotiations and conflict management was gained in Geneva, Washington D.C., and at the UN forging relationships among European and Asian nations for U.S. positions on strategic issues and nuclear proliferation.
  • Jeff' specializes in team building, conflict management, negotiation skills, leader development, and systems change.
  • He lives in Virginia Beach, VA where his cell phone will find him on the tennis courts. Watch for Jeff's screen play that moves from the labyrinthine politics of Georgetown to the political and military intrigues of a crumbling Soviet empire.
Judith Noel, Diversity Associate
  • Degrees are in Education, Counselling Psychology, and Organizational Behavior.
  • Judith brings a rich background in understanding people in numerous industries. She has lived and worked among the Nakota tribe in the oil fields of Canada's First Nation for up to a year and coaches senior executives in the board rooms of Fortune 100 companies.
  • Her specialties are Leader Development, Individual and Organizational Change, and Diversity. For twelve years she led an international group of women in a collaborative research project on women's leadership. She is also the founder of the Institute for Women's Leadership (LUNA).
  • Judith and her partner live in Oakland California. Her passions include traveling to exotic places of the world to immerse herself in cultures different from her own.
Jerry Rankin, Engineering Associate
  • Degrees are in chemical engineering and graduate degrees are in physics and business
  • Jerry is a Senior Scientist, Registered Environmental Manager, and a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager at the Senior Level.
  • Jerry specializes in creating partnering alliances between the military, government organizations, and the private sector.
  • He lives in Huntsville, AL where his passion is golf and growing humongous zucchinis. His other passion, skiing, takes him to numerous countries far from Alabama.
Joe Roy, Asia-Pacific Associate
  • Both undergraduate and graduate degrees are in mechanical engineering.
  • Joe's background is the petroleum industry at the senior executive level. He lived for three years in Japan and for fourteen years in Thailand, where he was in charge of all refining activities.
  • He is ESI's Asia-Pacific, cross-cultural expert and, along with his wife, frequently coach American expatriots with dealing with the complex Asian world.
  • Joe lives in Denton, Texas where his passion is music, story-telling and assisting international students in deaing with the complex world of south Texas.
Walt Smith, Re-engineering Associate
  • Degrees are in engineering and business
  • Walt brings to ESI 30 years experience in the chemicals, dyes, and pharmaceutical business. His experience runs from union member and hourly operator to warehouse manager, to director of training, to human resources manager and later as Senior Manager of Organizational Effectiveness for Hoechst.
  • Walt consults in the area of manufacturing processes, mapping, work redesign, inventory management, and import / export businesses.
  • Walt lives in Rhode Island where his passions are golf, skiing (preferably not in Rhode Island), and fishing.
